Wanamingo Wind Forum

The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and the Southwest Initiative Foundation hosted a community forum on wind energy development at the Wanamingo Community Center on July 9, 2009. Several representatives from National Wind were among the panelists. Other panelists included a toxicologist from the MN Department of Health, a representative from the State Department of Natural Resources, an analyst from the Natioanl Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado, and landowners from Western Minnesota and Northern Iowa, among others. The crowd of about 150 people submitted great questions which the panelists than fielded.

Met Tower Installation

National Wind Assessments, the wind-resource analysis division of National Wind, installed an 60-meter on-site meteorological tower in Goodhue Wind's project area in February 2009. The tower measures wind data, such as speed and direction, that are crucial to creating turbine layouts that optimize wind farm productivity and efficiency.

April 29th Update

An Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) issued recommendations and findings of fact that are consistent with the Goodhue Wind site permit application to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.  The ALJ reviewed detailed testimony and a 3-day hearing before issuing her findings.
